The incumbent will work in a deputy role to the Head of Capital Markets within GSB’s global capital markets business, supporting clients in corporate advisory, private debt and equity placements whilst also supporting the GSB Ventures Impact Fund and Mergers and Acquisitions.


Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Work with the Head of Capital Markets to develop and implement strategies for capital raising, including debt and equity financing, to support GSB’s overall business objectives.
  • Evaluate market conditions and trends to make informed decisions on the timing and structure of capital market transactions.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial analysis to assess the financial health of the company and identify opportunities for optimising capital structure.
  • Monitor and analyse financial markets, interest rates, and economic indicators that may impact capital market activities.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with investment banks, financial institutions, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of financing transactions, ensuring favourable terms for GSB.

Compliance and Regulation:

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure that the Company’s capital market activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Work with compliance teams to manage regulatory reporting requirements.

Risk Management:

  • Help Identify and assess risks associated with capital market activities, and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Implement risk management policies and procedures to safeguard GSB’s interests.

Capital Allocation:

  • Assist in allocating capital efficiently by evaluating investment opportunities, assessing return on investment, and prioritising projects based on strategic goals.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Work with finance teams to develop budgets and financial forecasts related to capital market activities.
  • Monitor actual performance against forecasts and adjust strategies as needed.

Team Leadership:

  • Motivate and mentor junior team members
  • Help foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the capital markets team.

Communication

  • Support the Head of Capital Markets to regularly update senior management on capital market trends, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and market conditions.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Subject matter expertise on the impact of market trends, economic and regulatory change and how this impacts GSB and our Clients
  • Effective communicator with a track record of successfully building relationships and trust across different geographies and cultures.
  • Be a key contributor across the senior leadership team and role modelling the company values and providing peer support to more junior members in the team across the business.
  • Experience working under financial regulator, whether DFSA or FCA, is mandatory.


Organisational Knowledge:

  • GSB business systems and operations (e.g., IT, People & Culture, database reporting, administration procedures)
  • GSB structure and internal and external stakeholders.
  • GSB culture and values.
