Malawi is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa and is defined by its topography of highlands split by the Great Rift Valley and Lake Malawi. While a beautiful holiday destination for many, Malawi is also one of the poorest countries in the world.
Founded in 2015 and based in Sogoja Village, about 15 minutes drive from Zomba (the old capital of Malawi), The Sparkle Foundation is a grassroots charity organisation committed to improving the lives of local people and neighbouring communities.
The Sparkle Foundation’s mission is to drive positive change within the charity sector by delivering a sustainable and replicable best-practice community model. The Foundation runs tailored outreach programmes in partnership with its community committee — village heads and government bodies — empowering members with knowledge and tools to become self-sufficient and food secure. The success of the programmes stems directly from the charity’s relationship with its beneficiaries. This has helped create community spaces for agriculture, training, tailoring, baking, and other skills to achieve lasting social impact.
Since early 2022, we have been supporting The Sparkle Foundation’s efforts, beginning with donating our own community resources. From assisting with administration, sourcing discounted and pro-bono professional services and insurance, to donating toys and other equipment. But this is just the beginning of the relationship with The Sparkle Foundation. We look forward to many years to come of supporting this fantastic charity through our donations from Dubai and more directly on the ground in Malawi.
